Auto setup assumes y'all desire to use IMAP, which I practise not want to use

I have always used pop as I don't like the thought of all my emails sitting on a server which could be compromised.

Problem solved!

Yahoo expects you to have 2-stage verification turned on. You then have to generate a new password,using an Outlook app, which replaces the one you originally created.

I ran the troubleshooter and was asked what the problem was. So I wrote: "cannot connect Outlookto Yahoo mail".

It replied with this link:

I just followed the instructions and the connectedness was made.

I have the same trouble, but when I access account Security I go the following:

Admission & Security

This is how you sign in now

• Password

  Last ChangedJanuary 21, 2022

Now what???? There is not style to generate an App password
